A Wanna-be Hermits Tale: Daniel's Blog Day 11 of Christmas break, Christmas Day

Merry Christmas to all!!! Today is the joyous day of celebration where we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Some of you might not know, 'Christ' is not his surname. Christ really means the savior if im not mistaken.

Well, through the ages, many have came up with different views of christmas. Like the giving of presents and the Fat Drunk Santa (they cant exactly advertise an alcoholic to kids now can they?). Of course, there's the importance of being with family and cherishing loved ones. But this is not the true reasons for christmas my dear friends. Oh no no no. As most of you already would know what I am about to say, this is the day where we remember the Birth of the Messiah and King of all Kings, JESUS CHRIST.

Sometimes I forget how important this day really is. The day where the world is given hope and redemption from doom. How hard it is to tell of this glorious day. Nobody really thinks of what will happen after earthly death. Sometimes not even pious people. But a movie I just watched in church kind of helped me remember the importance of Christmas. It is called The Nativity Story.

Basically, it follows the story of Mary and the events that lead to the birth of Jesus. As not alot of details are mentioned in the bible for this part, the movie (though might not be very accurate) did put some perspective. For instance, a virgin suddenly being pregnant will definately not go unnoticed and with the culture at that time, won't be treated 'kindly'.

For those in Malaysia, you might find it hard to get your hands on this movie, but you guys should really watch it. Hey CBC, get together and watch it at someones place!!!XD
